Position Title: Teacher

 Supervisor:  Site Director

 Department: Child Development

 

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for the education and general development of children in a childcare center.  Assist with the plans and organizes educational programs in the center.  Contributes to the development of the center’s educational plans.   Implements the center’s plan geared to meet the needs of each individual child enrolled in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards.

 

Responsibilities :

  • Leads classroom team in creating an atmosphere in which children can learn.

  • Supervises all activities of the children in the classroom, playground and field trips.

  • Supervises and provides guidance to the Teacher Assistant, volunteer(s) and any other classroom personnel.

  • Introduces and teachers language development skills, concepts of numbers, colors, shapes, textures, science skills, music and rhythm, arts and crafts.

  • Plans field trips, prepares children and follow-up on field trip activities.

  • Researches new curriculum methods and reinforcement materials.

  • Shares responsibility for cleaning up after all classroom activities.

  • Assumes over-all responsibility for proper care of classroom equipment and supplies.

  • Prepares reports on classroom activities, including attendance records, monthly meal participation record.

  • Prepares progress reports on children, Individual Education Plans (IEP); Assures children are assessed three times per year.

  • Assures completion of NRS for 4 year olds twice a year.

  • Assures at least two home visits annually for each child and at least 3 parent/teacher conferences per year.

  • Assures each child has a Child Portfolio.

  • Works closely with special consultants and other resource people.

  • Attend all meetings and trainings as requested.

  • Knowledgeable of Head Start Performance Standards, PRISM, and Creative Curriculum.

  • Creates an environment that is welcoming for families.

  • Fosters children’s social emotional development.

  • Behaves in an ethically responsible and professional manner.

Qualifications: 

Graduation from an accredited university or college with a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, which includes a minimum of twelve weeks supervised field experience working with three to five year old children in a center-based pre-school.  Must be computer literate. Type 04 Certification desired.

 Position Title:  Direct Service Personnel

Supervisor: Unit Director

Department:  Developmentally Disabled/Behavioral Health Services

 

Position Summary:

 

Provides support, assistance, training, counseling and nurturing for

and with the consumers. Assists in planning, implementing and

documenting individualized plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Shops with and/or consumers purchasing such items as grocery, household supplies, clothing, etc.

  • Prepares meals with and/or for consumers. Dines with consumers so as to provide needed training and supervision.

  • Teaches daily living skills as necessary. Cleans apartment with and/or for consumers.

  • Participates in ongoing-in-service training and initial orientation to Centre, consumer and consumer's home.

  • Participates in outdoor camp activities with consumer. Assures that consumer receives services as identified in habilitation (individualized) program plan, records progress.

  • Notifies supervisory personnel in emergencies in the use of medications and medical treatments.

  • Participates in ongoing training, which includes medication administration.

Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma.

Previous work experience with the population served desired.

Must pass the T.A.B.E. test and participate and pass the DSP training.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Ability to travel and lift groceries of varying weights and ability to participate in outdoor camp activities.

Title:  Custodian

Supervisor: Director of Administration

 

Position Summary: 

 

Under the direction of the supervisor, performs custodial and janitorial duties involving the general cleanliness of agency facilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, wax and sanitizes floors

  • Cleans and sanitizes washbowls, sinks, toilets and urinals

  • Washes and dusts and polishes woodwork and furniture

  • Disposes of garbage, trash, and refuse

  • Washes glass doors and/or windows

  • Repair lights as needed

  • Team clean when needed

  • Responsible for exterior maintenance of the facility, including but not limited to snow removal and grass cutting.

  • Repairs lights as needed

  • Participates in team cleaning when needed

  • May be assigned other related responsibilities

Requirements:

 

Knowledge of methods used in general cleaning, knowledge of tools, equipment and supplies used in janitorial work.  Ability to follow written and oral instructions, ability to do strenuous physical work.
